How do I enroll in the ACCESS Mental Health for Youth program?

The ACCESS Mental Health for Youth program has three Hub teams that are assigned to towns throughout the entire state of Connecticut. Let us know the town in which your practice is located and your Hub team will contact you directly to help you enroll.


How much does it cost to enroll in ACCESS Mental Health for Youth?

ACCESS Mental Health for Youth program is a free consultative service available to all primary care providers treating youth in Connecticut under the age of 22 years, regardless of insurance. ACCESS Mental Health for Youth is funded by the Department of Children and Families.

The 2021 program expansion to include young adults 19-21 years old is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of an award totaling $445,000 with 20 percentage financed with non-federal sources through the CT Department of Children and Families. What insurance does ACCESS Mental Health for Youth take?

Once enrolled, you may call for a consultation with an ACCESS Mental Health specialist regardless of the youth’s insurance.


What kind of questions may I ask the ACCESS Mental Health for Youth specialist?

As a primary care provider enrolled in the program, you may call regarding any mental health questions or concerns pertaining to a particular patient. You may also call about a general question regarding the diagnosis and treatment of a specific disorder, use of a particular medication, use of mental health screening tools, or about questions pertaining to resources in the area. Simply, you may call your Hub specialist with any type of question regarding a mental health issue.


How long does it take to get a call back when I call my ACCESS Mental Health for Youth team?

Your phone call will often be answered immediately. However, if a call back is needed, it will occur within 30 minutes from your call.
