ACCESS Mental Health and Substance Use for Moms is a free consultative service for all Connecticut providers working with pregnant and postpartum patients, regardless of insurance. Our program is committed to working with prescribing providers in all settings to aid in the treatment of mental health and substance use concerns in pregnant and postpartum individuals.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What kinds of questions may I ask the ACCESS Mental Health and Substance Use for Moms psychiatrist?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Providers can call to ask any type of question that will help them address the mental health and substance use needs of pregnant or postpartum individuals. This can include general or patient-specific questions regarding the diagnosis and treatment of an illness, use of a particular medication, use of a screening tool, or questions regarding community resources (e.g., individual psychotherapy, support groups).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Can ACCESS Mental Health and Substance Use for Moms psychiatrists provide mental health treatment and\/or prescribe medications for my patients?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No. Our perinatal psychiatrists work to assist you in addressing your patient\u2019s mental health and\/or substance use concerns. We are here as a consultative support only, we will not take on the psychiatric treatment for your patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Can pregnant and postpartum women with mental health or substance use concerns call the ACCESS Mental Health and Substance Use for Moms line directly?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ACCESS Mental Health and Substance Use for Moms program is designed to assist health care providers in assessing and providing psychiatric care and support to pregnant and postpartum individuals.\u00a0As the treating provider, you need to contact the program first. After you speak to our perinatal psychiatrist and you would like us to help your patient connect to services, our resource and referral support team will work with your patient and their family directly.,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Can someone from ACCESS Mental Health and Substance Use for Moms visit my hospital\/practice\/program to discuss the program and\/or provide training on perinatal depression, co-occurring disorders and current best practices?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, we are very interested and committed to training providers.
